Trick or Treat - 3PS
Oh my fucking god. John Mayer plays in Ottawa in February! I feel a two birds situation here!

(With enough to think about in terms of future planning, this is definitely backburner shit, but holy god I need to see this show.)

Trick or Treat - 3PS
I want to make a Left4Dead-style movie poster. I think it would be cool, possibly as a neat Christmas present for MW or something. Considering my photoshop/computer coloring skills are nonexistant, it's not very likely. Still, I love the idea and I'd like to pull it off.

Such as such )

MW vs. Sarth3D? Surprisingly possible. That's not saying we pulled it off today, but we had promising tries that were cut short due to time constraints. Next time we pull ten people, however, we've got it.

I'm really old as of Saturday! Besides that, I'm come to realize that I've come to known the core group of MW for SIX years now. That's pretty nuts.

Bomingo-Resto
Ony, Siege and Antechamber of Ulduar, Northrend Beasts, and Jarraxus all in one night (perhaps more if I didn't take my nephews to a movie, but whatever)? One of our best raid nights yet.

I was particularly proud of our Iron Council, if only for my own selfish accomplishment, even though it was mostly borne from disaster. Jub was dropped in one shot and it left me to heal the remainder of the fight, which was still with all 3 guys remaining. I pretty much thought we would wipe and give it another go. Problem was, I was able to keep everyone up surprisingly well. I was a wreck by the end, but we pulled it off. I never want to do that again, but single healing the majority of council will go down as my best healing moment ever.

We made our end at Faction Champs on Trial, as we couldn't get a less ideal setup of opponents for our group. I'm confident we'll do better, as we one shot Beasts and Jarraxus after beating our heads on them multiple times a few weeks before.

Lou Albano, rassler but more importantly the live-action Mario for the old Super Mario Bros. Super Show back in the 90s, passed away today.

If you need recollection, here you go. Only thing that'd be worse is if the live action Captain N were to die. Sure, you see him for all over ten seconds in the intro but still!

Zero Punctuation - Custard
About a week or so ago, I finished (the game) Wet. There is NO way to use that game's title without signifying it's a game without sounding completely dirty, btw.

Anyhoo, the demo warmed me to the idea of this neat grindhouse themed adventure with some badass chick with guns and whatnot. The big problem with the demo in relation to the full version is that it pretty details everything you would possibly do in the game in the three demo levels you're given. The on-rail shooting atop moving vehicles, occasionally Quick Time Eventing from one car to another, was pretty neat although it is held back by being on rails. The run and gun fighting is fun at first, but when it doesn't go beyond jumping and shooting for the slow-mo multikilling, it loses its flair. There are several upgrades you can give to Rubi, but frankly not a single one is beneficial to clearing the game. Being able to shoot from poles, wires, after jumping off of guys and so on can put some panache to the game, but you really can go in and clear the game with the basic moveset you're given at the beginning. Even the weapons you can earn are unnecessary. Why bother with a shotgun when you can plow through guys with your handguns just as fine? Why use the SMGs when the handguns are a tad slower but pack unlimited ammo? Why use the crossbow thing... ever? If the additional moves and weapon couldn't add any extra excitement, the levels themselves had to. Sadly, they simply don't. Wet should have been this fast, adrenaline-pumping, Devil May Cry sendoff that should have jumped out of the blocks squealing and never looking back. Instead, you're put in constant states of stop and go with the frivolous platforming sections in between bits of gun and sword action. Kill some dudes, climb and jump around buildings for a few minutes, kill some dudes, climb and jump, etc. A couple levels combined the two, but not nearly enough to really make it exciting. Wet shines, although it's more of a quick gleam, when you're placed in the arena events. You have to bust doors down to stop respawns of enemies to go on. The situations basically mean for you traverse the room as quickly as you can to shut these spawn points down, as a result making some of the acrobatic platform feel more worthwhile and not a character-driven loading screen. If the enemies were at all any different as you moved on (guys with guns turn into guys with bigger guns turn into guys with masks and armor and guns), it could have very well been the major draw of playing the game. Rage mode sections are cute, and fun to look at temporarily, but the high contrast red, black and white stages do nothing but maybe cause a little bit of eye strain. More bits of quick time event sections do what the platforming did, only in shorter but just as unnecessary moments.

The gameplay had promise, but everything else doesn't help what little is there to gussy it up. The film grain filter is meant to hide the drab graphics. Not a single character, Rubi aside (and even then, she's no belle of the ball), is pleasing to look at. Rubi may have been one of the best versions of lady-badass we have ever seen (her design is pretty well done, looking like a cool female Dante without oversexing and underdressing her) if she wasn't such a drip. Her lines are corny and ineffectual, delivered with little excitement from Eliza Dushku. Perhaps it was less her fault and more the dialogue. She's decent to listen to, but her voice didn't fit what Rubi should have been. The gruff cursing felt forced, other lines sounded meek, and overall didn't work for what the game led me to envision her as.

Other vocal talents were sorely wasted. Malcolm McDowell had no business portraying an uninteresting villain. All the garbage lines of the many men you kill are horrible (trying hearing "YOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOU ARE SOOOOOOOOOO FUCKED!" several dozen times). Maybe it was supposed to be bad, being grindhousy and all, but you can put in lovingly bad moments and still have feel well done. Again, it was all so forced.

I don't see myself plugging through it again, and frankly I could have done with waiting for a price drop. Wet could have been much better with a little more loving care. Instead, it's another average title that probably could've gotten away with its shortcoming three or four years ago.

Cat! (3PS)
Clearly, when I said we were getting a cat tomorrow back on the 18th, I meant today.

She's a 4 year old orange tabby. Aidan named her Kai-lan, after the Nickelodeon Show, but we're apparently just shortening that to Kai.

Pictures later, I'd say.

I am gradually becoming more and more aware that my camera sucks, because the pictures look awful blurry no matter who takes it and whatnot. Anyhoo, here's a shot of my tattoo with most of the shading done.

I've been playing The Beatles: Rock Band, so call this inspiration.

List the Beatles from 1 to 4, 1 being your most favorite, 4 being your least favorite.

1. George
2. Paul
3. John
4. Ringo

I see Ringo RUNNING AWAY with last place.

I would also like to point out a pet peeve I've discovered that I have. People who say "The Bee-ulls" whenever they mention the band. Fucking Americans. It's a lot like "Airy Poh-ah" for Harry Potter.

Map Hat!
Tried the demo for WET yesterday and the day before. While it's not the prettiest girl on the block, it's not exactly doing anything monumental gameplay-wise, and I'm sure I'll hate the fact Eliza Dushku is voicing the main character, Rubi, I thought a lot of style to it and I'm curious to pick it up in two weeks.

Seriously, I wanted an excuse to say "I'm getting WET." without sounding like a total perv.
